Chicken Achari

Ingredients:

  • Dried red chillies 4-5
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) ½ tbs
  • Kalonji (Nigella seeds) ½ tsp
  • Methi dana (Fenugreek seeds) 1 tsp
  • Saunf (Fennel seeds) 1 tsp
  • Rai dana (Mustard seeds) 1 tsp
  • Lehsan (Garlic) 6-7 cloves
  • Adrak (Ginger) 1 inch piece
  • Kary pata (Curry leaves) 15-20
  • Sarson ka tel (Mustard oil) 1 tbs
  • Lemon juice 2-3 tbs
  • Cooking oil 4-5 tbs
  • Pyaz (Onion) sliced 2 medium
  • Chicken ½ kg
  • Tamatar (Tomatoes) blended 2 medium
  • Dhania powder (Coriander powder) ½ tbs
  • Lal mirch powder (Red chilli powder) 1 tsp or to taste
  • Namak (Salt) 1 tsp or to taste
  • Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ½ tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Water 1 Cup or as required
  • Kasuri methi (Dried fenugreek leaves) 1 tbs
  • Hara dhania (Fresh coriander)

Directions:

In spice mixer,add dried red chillies,cumin seeds,nigella seeds,fenugreek seeds,fennel seeds,mustard seeds and grind coarsely.

Reserve 1 & ½ tbs of prepared achari masala for later use.

In remaining achari masala,add garlic,ginger,curry leaves,mustard oil,lemon juice,blend to make a paste & set aside.

In a pot,add cooking oil,onion and saute until translucent.

Add chicken and mix well.

Now add prepared achari paste,mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add blended tomatoes and mix well.

Ad coriander powder,red chilli powder,salt,turmeric powder,garam masala powder,reserved achari masala,mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add water and mix well,cover and cook on low flame for 18-20 minutes or until tender.

Add dried fenugreek leaves.

Garnish with fresh coriander & serve!
