Tandoori Fish Curry

Ingredients:

  • Fish pieces 750 g
  • Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ½ tsp
  • Namak (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
  • Tandoori masala 2 tbs
  • Koyla (Charcoal) for smoke
  • Tamatar (Tomatoes) 2 medium
  • Adrak (Ginger) 1 inch piece
  • Lehsan (Garlic) 7-8 cloves
  • Pyaz (Onion) cubes 1 large
  • Hari mirch (Green chilli) 1
  • Dahi (Yogurt) whisked 2-3 tbs
  • Tandoori masala 1 tbs
  • Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ½ tsp
  • Zeera powder (Cumin powder) 1 tsp
  • Lal mirch powder (Red chilli powder) 1 tsp or to taste
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Dhania powder (Coriander powder) ½ tbs
  • Sarson ka tel (Mustard oil) 1/4 Cup
  • Cooking oil 1-2 tbs
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) ½ tbs
  • Sabut kali mirch (Black peppercorns) 15-16
  • Badi elaichi (Black cardamom) 1
  • Laung (Cloves) 3-4
  • Darchini (Cinnamon stick) 1
  • Pani (Water) hot 1 Cup or as required
  • Namak (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
  • Kashuri meethi (Dried fenugreek leaves) 1 tbs
  • Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) chopped

Directions:

In bowl,add fish pieces,turmeric powder,salt,tandoori masala and rub evenly.

Give a charcoal smoke for 2-3 minutes.

Cover & marinate for 30 minutes in refrigerator.

In chopper,add tomatoes,chop well & set aside.

In chopper,add ginger,garlic,onion,green chilli,chop well & set aside.

In bowl,add yogurt,tandoori masala,turmeric powder,cumin powder,red chilli powder,garam masla powder,coriander powder,whisk well & set aside.

In pot,add mustard oil and heat it until it comes to smoke point and fry fish pieces from both sides until done (approx. 2-3 minutes) & set aside.

In the same pot,add cooking oil,cumin seeds,black peppercorns,black cardamom,cloves,cinnamon stick and mix well.

Now add grinded onion mixture,mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.

Add spiced yogurt,mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add prepared tomato puree and mix well,cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes then cook on high flame until oil separates.

Add hot water,salt and mix well.

Add dried fenugreek leaves and mix.

Now add fried fish pieces,cover and simmer on low flame for 1-2 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander & serve!
